DOKA ESTATE is a private family owned coffee plantation and mill. In the
DOKA COFFEE TOUR visitors are taught about the ancient techniques of coffee farming, harvesting, milling and roasting. At an altitude of 4,500 ft above sea level, the crisp clean mountain air and abundant sunrays create the perfect combination for coffee growing. The peaceful breeze and gentle warmth of the sun transport you to the festive production of Costa Rica most famous crop.
Upon arriving the estate you can learn about the production of seedlings and techniques for growing our most treasured agricultural product. Harvesting is the next step in the process and we show how Costa Ricans have been picking the crop by hand for over 200 years. The milling process follows: experience first hand how the cherries are sorted, peeled, fermented and dried on sun soaked patios in the traditional methods taught to us our grandfathers.
The sun energy and the hourly raking of the coffee combine to create an incredibly unique taste. In the roasting facility you will see the entire process from seedlings to trees, fruit to roasted coffee and finally taste the perfect balance of nature and science.
